Life at Mewsbrook
Each resident has a key worker. That person helps with one to one support and makes sure the resident’s voice is heard. Staff get to know past and present interests so the activity programme can stay flexible and personal.
Group activities and one to one time both matter. Families are welcome to share knowledge of hobbies and to join in day to day life at the home. Monthly resident meetings give people a chance to feed back. Resident representatives play an important part in that.
Outings depend on what residents want. You can do as much or as little as you like.
Meals & Mealtimes
The kitchen is highly rated and menus are varied. Meals are home cooked using local produce where possible. Residents help shape the menu. If something is popular we add it.
Special diets are catered for. Birthdays and special occasions are marked with a party and a cake. A snack station is available around the clock.
You can eat in the dining room for a social mealtime or choose another space if that suits you better.
Accomodation
All bedrooms are single occupancy and most have en suite facilities. Rooms are tastefully decorated and residents are encouraged to personalise them with photos pictures and familiar items such as their own quilts. Your room is your private space.
Lounge areas are bright and airy. The dining room is social and welcoming. Gardens are used for sitting out picnics and quiet time when the weather allows.
A Resident’s Perspective
“The entertainment that comes in and plays music I really enjoy. I like the staff and find them very friendly and understanding of everybody. I enjoy the garden because it is pretty and we can sit out there for many hours. My room is a nice quiet space and I get a good night sleep. I enjoy going on picnics shopping and on occasions been on an outing to ride the train for a day out in London.” Paul H
What Families Say
The experiences of families mean a great deal to us. Here are some of their words about life at Mewsbrook House.
The staff are incredible. Over the four years my late father was resident at Mewsbrook I got to watch these incredible humans at work dealing day and night with mental illnesses. I watch them treat my father and the other patients with dignity care respect and compassion. Every patient is an individual to the staff. They truly cared and it showed. Their knowledge on complex conditions was brilliant especially for us as a family. They kept us up to date with all of the changes we experienced. They were honest when the end came and he passed peacefully away at Mewsbrook his final home. I will forever be grateful as will the rest of my family for the hard work and dedication the entire team from Mewsbrook showed to my father.
My brother John resides here. The care is outstanding and the staff care and are approachable and caring. A relative I know in another care facility and often compare and this home comes out very well. Lots of people with different conditions are catered well for. And special parties like valentine day events put on. Jane a lady sang and had some of the residents dancing it was wonderful for me a relative to behold. Brilliant care highly recommended
